The first female programmer
Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace was an English mathematician and writer, chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage's proposed mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine. As a result, she is often regarded as the first to recognise the full potential of computers and one of the first computer programmers.
1828
Ada designs a flying machine.
1833
Babbage invited Lovelace to see the prototype for his difference engine.
1835
Ada marries William King.
1838
Becomes countess of Lovelace.
1843
Notes on analytical machine published.
1852
Ada was struck by cancer and died at the early age of 36.
